MYMENSINGH: The government is set to install a dual-fuel combined cycle power plant with a capacity to generate 360MW of electricity in Mymensingh.
Rural power Company Ltd. (RPCL) will build the power plant. The company has already acquired 16.2 acres of land through the district administration for the power plant and international tender will be called by the end of December this year.
RPCL project director Rezaul Kabir made the disclosure in a view exchange meeting with local public representatives at the Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Monday noon (Nov 6).
Rezaul Kabir said the ongoing power crisis in Mymensingh will be completely eradicated once the power plant kicks in. Local people have also welcomed Prime Minister’s priority plan and implementation of the project.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khalilur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner (general) Mohsin Uddin, former chairman of Char Ishwardia Union Parishad Emdadul Haque Mondal and current chairman Morshedul Alam Jahangir were present at the meeting.
